    How To Improve The Standard Of Rural Education In India?

    Education is one of the fundamental rights that is enshrined in our constitution. Under the 86th constitutional amendment act, it was stated that every child between the age of 6-14 years of age should be provided with free primary education. This is one of the pivotal decisions that has helped to impart education all over India, including the rural areas. While children do receive free education, the quality of the education they receive in rural areas is not at par with its urban counterpart. But that difference will remain no matter how hard we try to curb it. All one can try to do is improve the quality of rural education in India. Here’s what that can be done to achieve it:

    Setting Up Better Schools:

    To impart education proper infrastructure is much needed. Rural education may have a school structure, but it lacks proper infrastructure. Boards, benches, lights, fans, drinking water, a science lab, a computer lab and a library, there are some of the infrastructural facilities schools should have. Without these facilities, it is hard to improve the quality of education in rural India.

    Increasing The Number Of Learned And Skilled Teachers:

    It is not just about having quality equipment and infrastructure to impart higher-quality rural education in India. To improve the quality of education the volume of teachers needs to be upgraded as well. A greater volume of learned and skilled teachers will be able better teach lessons and able to gauge the interest of students. Thus, students will be more open to accepting the shared knowledge in the class. 

    Offering Scholarships:

    Meritorious students can be found all over India. The talent pool of India is not restricted to urban capitals. Even rural India has students who can prove their talents when they are presented with the right opportunity. However, the lack of opportunity is one of the shackles that restrict credible students from making the flight. By providing scholarships for higher education, the face of rural education in India can be improved immensely. Financial assistance for higher education will help meritorious students aspire to better colleges and careers.

    Multilingual Education:

    Multilingual education can assist in overcoming the language barrier that is common in rural locations. Children in rural locations frequently speak a language other than the one used in schools, resulting in communication hurdles and poor learning outcomes. Education in the child's mother language can assist in overcoming these hurdles and improving learning results.

    These are some of the ways in which the rural education system in India can be improved. While some of the above-stated pointers may need some push from the government, some can be achieved if society comes together to address them together.
