Maya Chakraborty, 50% woman with disability, soon going to become a rehabilitation professional and being ready to serve the marginalized community. She born in a poor Brahmin family she affected by post-polio paralysis at the age of 2½ years at Bankberia village of Howrah district. From the beginning she was admitted as inmates in our Home for Children with Disabilities. Since then besides maintaining her own rehabilitation process, in course of time, she showed her proficiency in looking after round the clock the clinical monitoring of home children with multiple disabilities. She passed Higher Secondary and pursuing 2 years D.Ed.Spl.Ed. (M.R.) course under RCI, Govt of India, with this to enrich her activities in nursing field she obtained training on medical attendant and six months course on O.T. (operation theatre) assistant with flair knowledge on basic computer application. Her dedication, her eager desire prompted her to treat our ailing children as per physicians guidance benefitted our children with disabilities a lot. She may gain dignity and self-respect in the society. From 2006 she also involved with the rehabilitation activities of Asha Bhavan Centre for which she also get honorarium from the organization from which she help to her family and maintain her necessary expenses.
