LAPIERRE CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE FOR DISABLED
The flagship initiative of the organization is the Lapierre Centre of Excellence for Disabled (LCED), a fully integrated and equipped residential care facility for physically challenged and destitute children. The Lapierre Centre is our homage to the selfless saga of compassionate philanthropy of our benevolent friends Dominique Dada and Didi. In the years to come, the Centre will stand tall and proud with finest support and services to the underprivileged poor children who have been denied of their basic rights to lead a healthy and dignified life. The Lapierre Centre of Excellence for Disabled includes:
Once fully operational, the Lapierre Centre will have the following services, all of which are already operational except the aqua-therapy for children.
§ Residential capacity to provide comprehensive care and cure to 300 children having differential vulnerabilities and 50 women who are mentally challenged
§ Complete therapeutic unit providing physiotherapy services to the children
§ Community based physiotherapy initiatives
§ Specialized medical services for children including surgical support
§ Out reach health care services and out patient ward open for all
§ Counseling unit offering services to rural poor families and parents of children in the centre
§ Hydro-Therapy unit for disabled children
§ Vocational Training for elder children and women
§ Special educational facilities for disabled children
§ Library, reading room and recreational centre for children
§ Staff quarters and guest rooms for volunteers and visitors
§ Research and Development Section including orthopedic workshop
§ Program and Administrative office
Thus, the Lapierre Centre is a truly integrated and comprehensive cure and care unit for differentially challenged children and women, wherein, the challenged persons are provided curative support through physiotherapy, counselling and medical support and taken through a development process leading to their mental and physical growth. The vocational skill imparted as a part of the process makes them believe in themselves and take up vocations that will allow them to live a life with dignity and self-respect.
