PUBLIC EVENTS:
- 01 July 2006: Awareness camp on disability in National School, Kolkata wherein over 100 children participated in the sensitization program followed by quiz competition. Certificates were awarded to all he participants and prizes were distributed to quiz winners
- August 2006: Parikrama, a retail shopping event organized by Shoppers Stop had a stall of Asha Bhavan proudly displaying its products. The range of products included environment friendly hand made paper products and clothes products made by our children. The 15-days event was a huge success and since then, Shoppers Stop has been regularly supporting ABC initiatives.
- 01 July 2006: It was a day of Joy Ride for the children of Asha Bhavan. With support of Rotary Club, Park Point about 40 disabled children from ABC undertook a ride in a decorated tram car in Kolkata. The ride was fun all along, colourful and included food and refreshments.
- 15 October 2006: The World without Barrier campaign was launched through a gala event at Hotel Hyatt Regency in Kolkata. The event was sponsored by American Express financial Services Limited and over 150 corporate and social leaders participated in the event. The campaign was formally inaugurated by Mr. Russy Modi, noted corporate leader and socialite. After a brief presentation on the campaign, participants were taken through a musical performance by famous percussionist Mr. Bickram Ghosh.
- 11th January 2007: the children of ABC took part in cultural program as well as competition in Haldia Utsav and the team stood first in the said competition and was awarded by the Mela Committee with cash gift of rupees three thousand. There was also a decorated stall of paper products and some posters about disability were put on to sensitize the spectators and to identify the disability.
- From 29th to 31st March 2007: ABC team members participated in a three days leadership camp in Puri, Orissa. The camp involved introducing the participants to transactional leadership and personality development process through an interactive and highly participatory exercise, including team building as the central theme.The camp was followed by two days of annual review and planning meet.
- On 28th February 2008: Asha Bhavan organized a Disability Identification cum Certification camp in association with the valuable guidance from Health and Social Department, Government of West Bengal in our kathila Campus. Near about 127 persons with Disability received certificates.
- 12th March 2008: Asha Bhavan in association with Mennonite Central Committee arranged the inter school sports meet in Parbakshi school ground. The enthusiastic students from different schools of various districts came to participate in this interschool sports.
- 16th March 2008: Mass Education Department Government of West Bengal organized the 14th State Level sports meet for people with disabilities at the Uluberia stadium in collaboration with Rajya Pratibandhi Sanmiloni where 40 children had participated in this sports event and received 12 prizes.
- Novartis India Ltd had organized a drawing competition in which one of our child named Diponkar Mondal had got a first position and received a cheque amounting to Rs. 5000 along with a certificate.
- Dance Bangla Dance is one of the most popular Bengali reality show in Zee Bangla Television. The children of Asha Bhavan Centre were invited as special guests in the said programme.
- “Touch Numerous Hearts”was the slogan in which the leading corporate bank HDFC touched hearts of the numerous children in our home and outreach services with their unique effort.They celebrated their anniversary on 31st March and on 16th April 2008 where our representatives displayed a desk and sell their products crafted by our children like embroidery clothes, hand made paper products.
- 29th May 2008: Asha Bhavan Centre in collaboration with Tata memorial Hospital and dealpota Seba Samity had organized Cleft Lip and Pallet Screening Camp where 35 beneficiaries were selected for free corrective operation in Tata Hospital.
- 22nd July 2008: Mr Sanjeev Bhatt,General Manager - Parts Marketing & Operations, Ms Tumpa Roy Dy General Manager-Corporate Communications along with their team members of Tractors India Limited (TIL) , Kolkata had come to celebrate their 64th Foundation day with our children in our Asha Bhavan Centre, Kathila campus.
- 28th August 2008: Hindustan Paper Corporation Limited had donated drawing books for our children with special need. Our children will express their talents by showing their ability.
- To give exposure of Vocational Trade and to develop the Marketing strategy, three team member including a community members of Asha Bhavan Centre had participated in the Inauguration Programme and workshop of ARUNIM (An approach for marketing the product made by the disabled persons), which was held on 22nd September 2008 at Constitution Hall in Delhi.
- 21st October 2008: Rameshji Dhuldhule and Jayraj Jalluri members of HPCL had come to spend their valuable time with our differently able children. They had donated 250 blankets to our children which are very needful during winter season.
- 14 November 2008: India’s largest mobile company Nokia India Pvt. Ltd. had come to celebrate Children’s Day with our physically and mentally Challenged children. Children were very happy to welcome the members of Nokia India Pvt. Ltd. This was very special day for children. The representatives of Nokia have donated 100 school bags, 70 drawing books and 250 diapers.
- 21st November 2008: Shoppers stop a big shopping mall of Kolkata had come to celebrate their 17th foundation day at Asha Bhavan Centre. We were honored to welcome members of Shoppers stop. They have donated 150 sweaters. ABC is grateful to members of Shoppers stop who have brought an amazing day for physically and mentally challenged children.
- 24th November 2008: at Science City auditorium, Kolkata a special hearing aid distribution camp was organized where 16 children of Asha Bhavan Centre got a pair of digital BTE (Behind the ear).The hearing aid given to them at free of cost and according to audiogram.
- 8th January 2009: ONCG has spread their generous hand to support us for making our mission success. They have donated two lacs rupees by sponsoring 20 disabled vulnerable children who are the strength of Asha Bhavan Centre.
